Angus is the ultimate dream horse! Mane and tail for days with looks like he fell right out of a Disney movie!! He’s 8 years old and a stunning BAY!! Wears a size 2 shoe! He is well trained in the arena, a total dream on the trails, a handy partner on the ranch, safe for the entire family and as a bonus he will lay down, sit like a dog, go over the teeter totter, pulls the inner tube through the water for the kids, been used as a diving board and is Mema’s first pick when we go to the lake! Angus is a true gentleman and super easy on the eyes. He’s the one you will want to catch and go have some fun on everyday. You can’t help but to smile in his presence with his sweet, loving disposition and inquisitive personality. Angus has experienced lots of outside miles on trails and loves to go to the lake or lope across the sand dunes, he is pretty handy in the branding pen. He is accustomed to all types of terrain. He is very sure footed in the rocky mountains and easy to maneuver through all the water and sage brush. He loves water and will happily go for a swim in the lake. He will go right where you point him without hesitation. He is brave by himself or will gladly follow a group out on the trails. He has seen lots of wildlife, is good with crazy dogs, mini horses, blowing tarps, loud gunfire and four wild cowboys. He is an absolute blast and so easy to ride. Angus is extremely smooth and comfortable to ride. He has a reining type handle with a rocking chair lope on a draped rein, pretty one-handed spins, a deep smooth stop and a jog that you can sit all day long. Angus is simple to maneuver and easy for all levels of riders. He’s an exceptional horse to own and will allow you to turn him out for long periods of time and saddle him right back up gentle, quiet and safe, just the way you left him. All the little girls will love to braid his thick, long, gorgeous hair and he truly enjoys being pampered and loved on. Angus is one of the coolest horses that we have had a opportunity to own. He’s for sure a ride in style and oh my word, so dang fancy! We absolutely love this gelding and he will be a tough one to part with. His gentle soul, fabulous hair and all around talent to do anything you throw his way make Angus is a true gentleman and a once in a lifetime kind of gelding.
The first Horse Sale was held in August, 1971 and was labeled the Diamond F Ranch and Walter Ed Jones Production Sale. Fred H. Snook and Ed Jones were longtime friends who loved to raise and race their horses. Their wives, Elizabeth H. Snook and Libby Jones were best of friends. Fred Snook Jr. just graduated and returning home from the University of Idaho Law School was the Sale Manager. There has been a Sale ever since. The Sale moved to the present location at the Lemhi County Fairgrounds when the Indoor Arena building was moved from Leadore to the Fairgrounds. As the Sale grew, many other activities were added. As the buyers have become more concerned over performance and less concerned with pedigree, performance events have been added to give the sellers a chance to show off their horses before the Sale. First there is the Open Performance Show Saturday morning in the outdoor arena. All Sale horses are eligible to be ridden in the arena. Second, is the Trail Horse Competition. Held Saturday morning in the 4-H arena, the horses perform a variety of tasks and are judged. Third, is the Ranch Horse Competition. This will be held Friday morning at 11:00 a,m, in the outdoor arena. The horses all perform a set pattern then perform cow work. The crowd truly enjoys seeing all these good horses perform. It is quite a show!
The Salmon Select Horse Sale is more than just a sale, IT IS AN EVENT! More than the calendar, it is the signal to the folks in Salmon, Idaho that Winter is over and Spring has again arrived!
Horse and Mule Sale Terms and Conditions
- The highest bidder is the buyer. Any dispute between two or more bidders, sole authority to settle the dispute as he sees fit is reserved by the auctioneer, including the right to reject any or all bids.
- Terms of the sale are cash, bankable check or approved credit card.
- When a horse is sold, title shall pass to the buyer.
- Horses are offered for sale according to the laws of the State of Idaho, and the right to bid is reserved for all sellers in this sale. Sellers have the right to immediately declare NO SALE before the horse leaves the sale ring.
- Horses are at the buyer’s expense and risk and responsibility from the time of purchase, but no delivery will be made until final settlement has been made.
- There is no guarantee of any kind as to the soundness or condition or other quality of any horse sold in this sale except in a case where the owner makes a specific guarantee. In such cases, the guarantee is strictly by the owner and not the sale management.
- All registration papers will be held by the sales management until all checks clear the bank. Then they will be mailed directly to the new owners for you to transfer. If any buyer desires to obtain registration papers immediately, the horses must be paid for in cash. No drafts accepted.
- The sale management, auctioneers and employees act as agents for the sellers, but assume no liability for either buyer or sellers. Any representations made by the sale management are made on behalf of the seller.
- Every effort has been made to ensure correctness of the catalog. However, sales management, printer and auctioneer assume no responsibility for errors or omissions.
- Checks should be made payable to Salmon Select Sales.
- Sellers have the right to bid. The auctioneer may protect the seller.
- Any person attending this auction does so at his/her own risk and no liability, duty, obligation, and/or responsibility shall be imposed upon Salmon River Association, Inc., Salmon Select Sale LLC, any consignors or any of their agents, or Lemhi County, Fred Snook or any sale personnel for any accident, injury, mishap, theft, damage and/or any other harm, regardless of the source or imposition.
- Minimum opening bid shall be $2500.00 for horses and $2500.00 for mules.
- All online bidders will be charged a 1% buyer's premium. All phone bidders will be charged a 2% buyer's premium.
- All winning bidders will be charged $20/horse health inspection fee.
- Liability: Neither the owners nor any other persons connected with this sale assume any liability, legal or otherwise, for accidents to persons or property, before, during, or after the sale. Premier Online Sales, MM Auction Services, LLC, Colby and/or Codi Gines; its principals, directors, officers, agents, employees and volunteers, and each and every landowner, municipal and/or government agency upon whose property this activity is conducted, shall not be liable for injuries sustained by anyone attending or bidding by online at Premier Online Sales. MM Auction Services, LLC & its associates act as contract labor to provide online bidding only and are not responsible for buyer/seller error or misunderstanding. All guarantees are for the benefit and reliance by buyers and are strictly between the buyer and the seller of the mule. All animals are sold “As Is”.
