MODOCS SMOKEN BLUE
"Hickory” is a big fancy blue roan gelding that steals hearts everywhere he goes. 15.3 hands and will weigh 1300#, gorgeous conformation with sturdy bone and foot under him and a beautiful jet-black head. “Hickory” is royal bred to make a cow horse, rope horse, show in ranch versatility, or sort/penning. His sire HickoryDickoryDoc is an NCHA money earner. And his grandsire, Doc’s Hickory needs no introduction either. He is an AQHA High Point Cutting Stallion himself and his offspring have earnings of nearly 20 million in Cutting, Reining, and Cow Horse events. “Hickory” has been a full-time employee on our ranch since he was just a 3-year-old. He has an outstanding work ethic, a willing disposition, and an eagerness to learn. He meets you at the gate ready to face the day. Although he is kind and gentle, he also has a lot of heart and willingly puts in long hours when needed. “Hickory” has been used by our entire family in the Idaho mountains on a forest association where he has learned to be reliable and handle the rough terrain with ease. Down timber, bog bridges, boulders, and creek crossings are normal elements in his every-day job. We have used him to doctor cattle outside, in the feedlot, and at many brandings. The past couple years he has also been used on the head side at team roping jackpots and he LOVES his job. “Hickory” scores rock solid, runs hard, rates cattle extremely well, and faces sharp. He will fit a broad spectrum of ropers as he is easy to get along with yet athletic enough to perform at a high level. One of Hickory’s important attributes is he handles time off while remaining levelheaded, quiet, and capable of doing his job. We have given him several months at a time off and when we put him back in the work force, he returns to work like he never missed a day! Hickory is hobble broke, good to bathe, a gentleman to shoe, stands tied quiet, polite to haul and will load in any type of trailer. He is the special kind, and while it is an honor to offer one like this for sale, it is also TOUGH, we will miss him for sure!!
