DEXTER AUGUSTINE

Everyone meet DEXTER AUGUSTINE, aka “Dex.” He is a registered GHRA 4-year-old Gypsy Vanner/ Haflinger cross gelding standing at 13.3h. This guy is one of a kind and as safe as can be! Dex rides in both english and western tack, and he does both disciplines exceptionally well. He’s a great mover, has smooth transitions, moves off leg, knows his leads, and has a nice soft mouth. He has only ever been ridden with a snaffle, or in a halter; he will also ride bridleless! His gaits are very smooth and comfortable. His ground manners are excellent, and he will stand all day to be groomed and loved on.
Dex will ride out alone or with a group and cross any water, bridges, logs, or ditches you may encounter on the trail. Dogs, cows, donkeys, and goats don’t bother him. He is traffic safe no matter the size of the equipment. Dex will ride the same no matter where you are; once he unloads off the trailer, he is always ready to go to work. He has been camping with us in the Pennsylvania Mountains and all over New York State. If you look up patience, Dex’s name will be next to it. He is never in a hurry to go anywhere and is extremely patient. He is the main horse that we use in our veterans programs and for our lessons with small children and our special needs kids. At such a young age, Dex acts like he has an old soul. He loves to play with the other horses in the pasture, but when it comes time to work, he is all business. Everything he does, Dex takes it in stride; the first time he was hooked up to drive, he walked right off like he had been driven his whole life. Dex is excellent for the vet/farrier, baths, picking his feet, brushing, saddling, and bridling. Very easy keeper, no maintenance, no supplements and is up to date on everything. No vices whatsoever and a very sweet in-your-pocket personality. He’s turned out most of the time, but he is very content in a stall also. He gets along with others, or he can be turned out alone and is not buddy or barn sour at all. This gelding has been a barn favorite since he arrived as a yearling, and we will all continue to enjoy him daily until he finds his forever home.
